Câu này nói quan niệm dân gian cho rằng phúc đức, cách ăn ở của cha mẹ, ông bà sẽ thể hiện qua diện mạo, sự khá khẩm hay suy bại của con cháu. Dùng để nhận xét hoặc suy đoán đức hạnh của một gia đình qua tình trạng con cháu họ.
